deep cycle batteries

Question
is it true that you have to totally discharge a dep cycle battery before recharging it

Answer
Hi Gary...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

Yes, it has been my personal experiences that in order to ensure a lasting battery including its power, best you run it down as far as possible, particularly if you're using it to operate a trolling motor. If you constantly recharge a deep cycle battery when it's say half down, the battery ends up with a memory at that level and it won't charge more than 50%.
