Power Trim/Tilt

2016/7/15 18:32:14

Question
Hi,

I have a 93 bass tracker with a 93 40HP Johnson outboard motor.  When using my power tilt to lower my motor, the tilt is slow to respond.  After pushing and holdering any of the 3 power trim/tilt buttons for about 3 secs it will begin to lower.  I was wondering what could be causing this delay?  When raising the engine there is no delay what so ever.  Also, I have noticed that once the boat has been running for 10 minutes or so, when I trim the engine downward while moving, there is no delay at all.  Mainly, I notice this problem when the boat is trailered or if lowering the engine after raising it to fish some shallow areas prior to starting.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Answer
Hi Chris...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to respond to your question.

Did you check and ensure there's plenty of hydraulic fluid in the pistons? Are they bent? Are the seals leaking? Have you done a power check on the trim/tilt motor?

Best you consult a qualified and reliable marine mechanic.
