oval and plain mouth
hello sir, i attached an image consisting of two types of mouthpieces. a curved mouthpiece and a straight mouthpiece, both has single joint as well as they are loose ring snaffles. now, tell me which of these two snaffles would you use on racing thoroughbreds??

Answer
Both are suitable for thoroughbred racing. The oval bit is a kinder bit as it doesn't pinch the mouth as hard. I do not use either of these bits since a loose ring can pinch the corners of the mouth and cause open sores. Rubber bit guards may be used to help with this problem if you insist on using these bits.
