a quick question

Question
Is rock climbing good for the back of the body? or is it going to hurt the back? The reason i am asking this question, last year i have rupture one of my disc and i am trying to get into activities that will help me strengten my back.

Answer
Well climbing is an all round body sport. You are constantly moving every part of your body. It is difficult to give information as to whether you will do either injury or good. Firstly it would depend on what you would be climbing, however its obvious which routes you should tackle and which you should stay away from to avoid injury.
I would recommend a full body harness, to minimize the risk of injury to the back. It is an incredibly tricky question, to be honest, as you use alot of your back muscles to climb and whether this is what your looking for (to use your back muscles) to lead to strength in your back im unsure. I think that it would be a good idea to ask other people for opinions, and not just take mine!!
I hope i have helped, anything else i can help with, let me know. Good luck and take care.
