Question
I AM WANTING TO CLIMB SNAKE DYKE RT ON THE 1/2
DOME IN YOSEMITE THIS SEPTEMBER! MY PARTNER IS WANTING TO CLIMB UP THE CABLE RT. IS THERE A CLIMBING COMPANY IN THIS EREA WHERE I COULD GET A GUIDE TO LEAD THE SNAKE DYKE CLIMB WITH ME? THANKS JIM JONES

Answer
Jim,
The Snake Dike Route of Half Dome is a realtivly easy climb. 5.7 rating.  It does have some ong runout pitches that can be a bit nerve wracking if you are not experienced at leading face and friction climbs.

The guide service in Yosemite is the Yosemite Mountaineering School.   You can hire a guide through them. They are the only "permitted" school in Yosemite.

You could also hire a private guide in your area to go to Yosemite with you. Your local climbing shop should be able to help you locate one.

If you looked around, I don't think you would have any problem finding a (free) partner to climb Snake Dike with. It is very popular.  You might want to post  your climbing partner wants on www.craigslist.org or post a message in the Forum of www.supertopo.com.

Good Luck

Jeff
