walking strides

Question
I'm in good health and want to maximize my walking.  I've experimented with strides, but really can't decide which is better.  Is it better to take fast, long strides or fast, short strides.  My goal is to tone, as well as maintain a cardio workout for my heart.

Also, your daughter, Mandi, looks to be in great condition.  Could you share info about her power walking workouts?

Answer
HI MACIE
THANK YOU FOR HAVING 5 CHILDREN, MANDI IS SO FIT ITS ALMOST SICK.
SHE POWER WALKS EARLY MORNINGS 4 MILE EVERY DAY.  IF SHE CANNOT, SHE WALK UP GRADE ON HER GOOD TREADMILL.  SHE EATS ALL LOW FAT OR NO FATS.
SHE SWINGS ARE ARMS, KEEPS HER HEAD ERRECT AND WALKS AS LARGE A STEPS AND FAST AS SHE CAN GO FOR 5'3".  I BOUGHT HER GOOD SHOES ALSO AS HERS WERE WEARING AND HER FEET HURT, IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE THE BEST SHOES U CAN AFFORD.
MANDI WEARS A SIZE 5 AND BEFORE CHILDREN WORE SIZE MEDIUM OR 9/10.
IT IS GREAT FOR THE HEART, BODY, SOUL AND MIND TO KEEP FIT AS ONE CAN.
