Thanks for the info and the quick reply.  I'm kind of new to climbing...I'm not sure what a mantle is....

Thanks again, Josh

Hi Jeff,

What's the best way to grip a sloper-type hold?

Thanks, Josh
Answer -
Depending on the angle and on the type of hold. If it's big enough, maybe a mantle could work. If it is sharp enough fingertips straight down with lots of pressure.

Hope this helps

Jeff

Answer
A mantle is  palm down elbow straight up above it and pushing down. If you were on your knees and there was a shelf chest high you would reach up put the palm of your hand flat ion the shelf with your arm at a 90 degree right angle (i wish I could draw it for you) pushing down and lifting your weight.

It's requires you be at least neck level to the hold. Once you lift yourself you can replace your hand with your foot. It's a very effective low energy strength move that gains a lot of grund quickly. But again it only works on specific kinds of holds.

Sit in a chair put you hand on a desk and push your body up out of the chair with your palm flat on the desk with your fingers pointed thumb toward your offopiste shoulder and yur thumb parralle to your stomach. Push yourself up and you are doing a mantle.

Hope this helps

Jeff
